Minority Cell – St. Thomas Forane Church
Founded in the year of 2013 by Rev. Dr. Thomas Kallukalam, Minority Cell is an active group in St. Thomas Forane Church, Bangalore.
Minority Cell’s core focus is to identify and collect the details of various benefits and services from central and state governments issuing through various departments, for underprivileged families, especially from Christian communities. We are working as a team for the betterment of underprivileged parishioners and families in our church.
Major Activities of Minority Cell are:
1. Minority Cell Members are engaged in the application process, submission, documentation, tracking and liaisoning with government offices, colleges, schools and various educational establishments to support and avail central and state government scholarships to the children of our community. Until the year of 2017, more than 3.5 crores of Indian rupees have been received by the children in our church through various scholarship programs and under the coordination of Minority Cell team.
Scholarships included:
Pre-Matric for school children
Post-Matric for regular college students and technical students
Merit-cum-means for professional students
Overseas scholarship from Karnataka Government
Various scholarships for professionals or particular student group or intention
2. Minority Cell members are frequently visiting churches across Bangalore and conducting awareness programs. We are mentoring small groups in various churches to make them capable to take care of the need of their parishioners. We are also providing necessary support to the people contacting us from other parishes, including providing information, help to process applications and submission for various scholarships.
3. Other activities of Minority Cell includes:
Help to get caste and income (3B) certificate for parishioners and children
Arranging Voter ID card campaigns.
Guiding and arranging Aadhaar Cards
Guidance to various government services such as pensions to aged and widows.
Arrangement of documents for availing fund for church renovation and community halls.
Various loans for social groups and students
Minority Cell Team in St. Thomas Forane Church
Minority cell is a group of true professionals including students, thinking similarly, highly service oriented, having strong values and a clear vision. Our team is capable and ready to take any tasks assigned to us, for the best benefit of our members, especially underprivileged people. Coming years, we are expected to expand our services to other un-identified areas to tap the benefit potentials to the needy people as well as engage in church activities.
